Progress Update 04

1. Key Activities

  • University Applications – Spent significant time on university-related tasks, causing delays in research. Plans to finalise and submit options tonight to remove distractions.
  • Previsualisation – Created and uploaded a visualisation of the staging and set design on the pre-production page of the blog.
  • Casting Progress – Still pending. Plans to create a tally form and casting posters to post on LinkedIn, Facebook groups, and physically in college. Additionally, Paddy has potential dancer contacts.
  • Equipment & Lighting – Plans to contact Wildfire Lighting to enquire about borrowing equipment, ideally for free or at a discount.
  • Location Scouting – Paddy has asked Ed from the University of Cumbria about using a studio space, with a meeting scheduled for Thursday. Priority is finding a blacked-out studio, though last year’s abandoned warehouse location remains an option.
  • Projection & Set Pieces – Needs to source projectors and determine if projection mapping is viable or if multiple projectors are required. Also needs to figure out how to construct set pieces, particularly a lit-up catwalk.
  • Research Progress – Still behind, with fundamental research tasks (e.g., role analysis and music video conventions) yet to be completed.

2. Feedback & Progress

  • Previsualisation completed and uploaded.
  • Casting process still unstarted but with a clearer plan for outreach.
  • Equipment, location, and set design all require further research and problem-solving.

3. Challenges & Solutions

  • Falling Behind on Research – Struggling to maintain research progress. Solution: Dedicated full day tomorrow after a driving lesson to work solely on this project.
  • Unconfirmed Location & Equipment – Still waiting for confirmation on location and access to lighting equipment. Solution: Meeting with Ed on Thursday and contacting Wildfire Lighting for support.
  • Casting Delays – No formal casting has begun yet. Solution: Actively promoting casting call through multiple platforms, including physical and online notices.
  • Technical Challenges (Projection & Set Design) – Need to find a way to source projectors and construct set pieces. Solution: Further research into projection mapping and sourcing physical materials during the research phase.

4. Upcoming Plans

  • Submit university applications tonight to free up focus.
  • Spend tomorrow solely on FMP work.
  • Meeting with Ed on Thursday to discuss studio space options.
  • Create and distribute casting posters and forms.
  • Contact Wildfire Lighting for equipment availability.
  • Continue research into set design, projection requirements, and technical aspects.
  • Plan test shots for the week after Easter, with rehearsals and filming scheduled for the following week.

5. Additional Comments

  • Aware of falling behind and aiming to pick up the pace.
  • Pre-production work will largely happen over the Easter holidays.
  • Hoping to shorten gaps between production diary updates to maintain better tracking.
