Post-Production

Rough Cutting

The first stage of the process is to put all of the clips on the timeline and do a basic rough cut.

Colour Grading

Colour Pass 1

For the first colour pass, all grades were just done on a single node, just to see how it could look.

Colour Pass 2

From the second colour pass and onwards, colour grades were applied based on a node tree created by Darren Mostyn and amended by me. That way, it would be much easier to track down and adjust any particular aspect of the grade.

Colour Pass 3

Graphics

Graphics Pass 1

On this edit, I added the starting disclaimer, opening title card, credits, closing title card and production card. I also added to the credits; glitch effects (provided by MrAlexTech), flicker and camera shake effects (adjustment clip) and the music – which is actually made up of three different sections of the song, the first is the chorus, the second is the loop of the first chorus and the third is the chorus right at the end of the song so that it has a satisfying ending. I did play around with trying to just have one continuos section of audio and try to reverb, or echo stop the end of the track, however it never sounded great and so I came up with the current solution, I do think though, that you can’t actually hear the sections transition and therefore I did an alright job.

I designed the credits, opening titles, production logo and all other graphical elements in Affinity Designer.

Colour Fix 1

Minor adjustments to colour grade on certain clips.

Sound

Sound Pass 1

In this revision, I added some sound design to the beginning and ending scenes when Becca (the cult leader) is walking in and out of the cult meeting. I also cleaned up the mix on the main audio track and the credits, just to polish it up.

Colour Fix 2

Minor adjustments to colour grade on certain clips.

Final Iterations

Final Refinements 1

Minor edit and colour adjustments to get it release-ready.

Final Refinements 2

Minor edit and colour adjustments to get it release-ready.

Final Export

Here is the completed version that was released to the public. There was one other version before this one, but there were only minor changes – things like the zoom showing cropped out areas, etc. Therefore, I decided that it wasn’t worth it to spend time uploading it to YouTube to put on here.

Anyway, enjoy the final product:
